How To Step Up Your Cutoff Game Like Chrissy Teigen

July 27, 2016

09-chrissy-teigen.w245.h368.2x

I have to tell you, I have recently become the biggest Chrissy Teigen fan (yes yes, I said this post was about her denim game and I’ll get to that soon)! First off, from what I can gather from her visits on WWHL, hosting gig on Lip Sync Battle and her social media accounts, she seems hilarious. Second, her Instagram account is amazing. I’ve become obese just looking at all the glorious food she posts. How is she not 400 lbs?!? I should deduct cool points for that, but I won’t. And most importantly, she can style a pair of cutoffs like no other and frankly, isn’t that the most important quality any human can have?

I was so inspired by her Gucci kimono/robe and cutoffs situation seen on her aforementioned Insta account, that I actually tried to justify buying the $4400 robe for myself.  I just love the how effortlessly cool it looks. While I’m getting a little too old..and flabby.. to wear cutoffs and a tiny tank, I love the idea throwing a kimono jacket over the look. And if you don’t do cutoffs, sport the look with jeans. While Chrissy’s kimono is heartstoppingly beautiful, it’s also kill yourself expensive, but luckily I’ve found alternatives …all under $200.

This beaded kimono from H&M is pretty insane and for $99, I might have to scoop it up. I also LOVE the print on this robe from Anthropologie (also under $100)! I also love this pretty blue version by Natalie Martin. Actually, check out everything Natalie Martin because the line is super cute. I’m mad I didn’t see it earlier so I could get a few things for my trip.

On My Radar: February

February 2, 2016

Midgett Bardot February Radar

How is it February people? There are so many things to look forward to this month. February’s packed full of fashion, must watch television (don’t even get me started about The People v. O.J. Simpson – and I guess some sports event next week?) So let’s break it down a little further.

  1. J. Crew Eyewear: Up until now, J. Crew has only carried other designer eyewear, but as I went through their latest catalogue with Liya Kebede and Carolyn Murphy, I realized J. Crew has launched their own eyewear. I’m obsessed with the Sam in red and the Betty in tortoise…oooh or the grey! How often do you see grey sunglasses!?
  2. Fashion Week : Technically, February is fashion month. Get ready for 4 weeks of fall fashion all fashion capitals of the world. There was a major game of musical chairs going on in some of the most successful fashion houses so I’m curios to see how Balenciaga will look without Alexander Wang, Lanvin without Alber and Dior without Raf Simmons. Plus, I love love love all the style on the streets outside of the shows.
  3. Valentine’s Day: Some may dread it or think it was made up by retailers, but I really don’t mind February 14th. I always feel a little nostalgic for the days when we made mailboxes out of old shoe boxes in grade school and got excited to get cards from boys (even though their mom’s probably made them write to all the girls). Any who, I’m not very mushy nowadays so maybe I’ll get a silly card & make some cookies for my loves.
  4. Cropped & Flared Jeans: Ever since I saw these jeans on Shopbop, I can’t get this silhouette out of my head. Too bad the only size left is 24- curse you skinny minis!(UPDATE: This dreamy pair is now available here) I guess I should just move on. I did try on a fab pair (similar for less) the other day and may just have to get them. I’m also obsessing over these high waisted skinnies here and here.
  5. The Oscars: Nerd alert: when I was little, I would get so excited about Oscar night, that I would put on my fanciest dress (probably Jessica McClintock) and watch the awards in them. My dream was to attend them one day. I don’t think that is ever going to happen so I just have to settle for stalking celebs and stylists on Instagram and Twitter.

Golden Globe Red Carpet Favorite: Alicia Vikander

January 10, 2016

Did y’all watch the Golden Globes last night? I thought they were pretty good actually. Ricky Gervais was so mean/hilarious, a few of my celebrity crushes like JLaw and Amy Schumer, Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling were great presenting duos (maybe a four way hosting gig next year), Gaga and Cookie made great victory runs and the red carpet fashion was on point! At first, I was going to give my best dressed trophy to either Cate Blanchett in Givenchy or Kate Bosworth  in Dolce & Gabbana (JLO & JLAW were pretty amazing too)  but as the night went on and I caught more glimpses of Alicia Vikander in her sparkly Louis Vuitton apron dress, I developed a serious crush on it…and her!

My god, she’s gorgeous…and tan…oh and she dates Michael Fassbender. So there. Who was your best dressed on the red carpet??? Here are some other great looks from the Golden Globes if you need a refresher.

Jaime King’s Nursery

August 19, 2015

Jamie-King-1

Cricket’s Circle (moms, check it out if you haven’t) revealed model/ actress, Jaime King’s new nursery yesterday and I had to repost. Is this not ridic!?!? Give me a break with this room. Jaime and her producer husband, Kyle teamed up with RH Baby and turned their sun room into a very elegant and modern nursery for their son. Yeah, “elegant” and “modern” aren’t usually used to describe nurseries, but I love a non baby-themed, unisex room. Jaime wanted a nursery that was a place for everyone in the family to enjoy and feel comfortable in and I think they accomplished just that. Her son is one lucky dude. And it doesn’t hurt that his godmother is Taylor Swift!!
