So You Just Had a Baby…

August 4, 2015

So Post

So you’ve just had a baby and You’re Headed To The Beach.

First off, good for you! Second, Ughghghghhghghghghghhg! What is worse than trying on suits when you’re not beach body ready? Unless you’re  a robot or just really annoying, you’re most likely not happy with your post baby body. Your hips are abnormally wide, your boobs are out of control (which is great for someone like me) and that dreaded muffin top is in full effect. If the front side wasn’t bad enough, you’ve still got to see it from the back. It’s what nightmares are made of.  Believe me, I know because I just went through this process. I scoured the internet and shops looking for a stylish and reasonably priced one piece that would miraculously make me look thin. So here’s what I learned.

so...

Counterclockwise from the top: Topshop scallop one piece , Nanette Lapore printed one piece, J. Crew ruched one piece, Marysia top and high waisted bottom, Cynthia Rowley Rash guard bikini

  • “Confuse” the Eye:  try minimizing your waist with a print or solid one piece with a contrasting waist. I ended up going with this printed number because of the black and printed paneling. It made my Little Miss Sunshine bod look surprisingly thinner. I also love this floral Tory Burch and this sporty Kate Spade.
  • Ruching:  ruching is your friend. I have a love hate relationship with ruching. It looks very OC Housewives circa 2006 to me, but it really is slimming!
  • Two Pieces with Coverage: If you are annoying and feel like wearing a two piece, try a high waisted style. I am obsessed with the Marysia scallop one seen above, but if you don’t want to break the bank, this one is super reasonable and cuuuute! I also LOVE a rash guard especially a Cynthia Rowley rash guard.

I may need to purchase that J. Crew suit. Love it. Bikinis look hilarious on me right now. I pop out of every corner. But I refuse to buy new ones! I will someday squeeze myself back into them!!

I thought I looked ok in my old, pre-baby bikini and then I saw a pic of my backside in it 😖😩
