In the past few months, I have developed a serious obsession with skincare products. Makeup has always been fun to me, but my actual skincare regime had mostly consisted of hand soap (yes on my face) and moisturizer. What I’ve learned from my new love so far is that skincare products can (and already have) make a difference in my tired looking skin. The other thing I’ve learned is that there are exactly one badrillion products out there and finding the right ones are confusing! So, I’ve done a little research and a little testing (um.. skincare is expensive) and have found 6 must have skin care products…for the time being.
Cremorlab Herb Tea Blemish Minus Calming Mask: Well that’s a mouthful! Full disclosure: I have not used this product before, but when one of my favorite beauty blogs tells me to basically stop everything I’m doing and buy it because it’s that good, I’ve got to listen. This super hydrating sheet mask helps rid skin of redness and dark spots left from healing blemishes. At $6 a sheet, I’ll definitely see for myself if the hype is warranted.
Charlotte Tilbury Take It All Off: I have this and can attest that it is amazing! I have wasted so much money on ineffective eye makeup removers leaving me to my old trusty hand soap and moisturizer but after getting a travel size version of Genius Eye Make-Up Remover, I’m hooked. I put on makeup just to take it off. Just kidding, but it is a miracle worker and on top of that, it’s soothing and leaves the skin around my eyes super soft.
NUDE Perfect Cleanse Cleansing Jelly: OK, I haven’t used this one either but, I’ve just placed an order for this travel size kit. When I read Refinery 29 editor, Megan McIntyre say, “hands down this is the most effective, most pleasant to use ‘take the day off’ makeup remover”, I decided I have to try it. It goes on like a petroleum jelly, but add a splash of water and it turns into a milky substance that melts away makeup, takes away dirt and oil and leaves your face feeling super soft (don’t you hate when you wash your face and then it feels super tight?)
Kate Somerville Retasphere Micro Peel: I have been using this for a little over a month and I swear, I have seen a difference. My skin is softer, more evenly toned than I’ve ever seen it and maybe I’m crazy, but my very large wrinkle in between my eyes seems a little less glaring. I put on a thin layer before bed every other night (Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate on the other nights + a ton of Caudalie) and papow-I’m peeled. The other great thing is that my face doesn’t feel overly dry or irritated which has happened with peels. Yes, it’s pricey, but in my opinion, it’s been worth it so far.
Dr. Jart Ceramiden Liquid Serum: Like Cremorlab, I heard about this Korean product (Korean skincare is so hot right now – in my best Mugatu voice) on Into The Gloss and based on the review, I need this. And if you want a serum that will completely moisturize, plump up your skin and help achieve a dewy look, you will want to try this too! I’m going to get this starter kit on Sephora ASAP.
Glamglow Super Clearing Mud Mask: This mask sucks up dirt and oil from pores and is said to help with blackheads, razor bumps and ingrown hairs. Um, if that’s true this will be my new best friend. Since having my son, I’ve had these crazy stubborn bumps on my arms and legs due to hormones. Exfoliating and moisturizing haven’t worked so maybe trying to vacuum out whatever’s causing it will relieve my dumb bumps. Either way, I’ve heard excellent reviews about this and am dying to try it. Maybe my love will get this for me for Valentine’s day. cough cough….
I need that cremorlab mask! So glad you posted about this because I need a totally new skin regimen. Not sure Aveeno is cutting it anymore!
Thx for the recommendations bunny – I need to step up my skincare game!!
