After an almost 10 year hiatus from coloring my hair, I’ve decided it’s time I got my hair did. The last time I colored it was when my mom pointed out a gray hair and laughed….LAUGHED at me. I made an appointment to have it colored the next day. Now the gray hair is back and brought friends so I’m determined to make a change. Enter my new hair inspiration : balayage.
Balayage is a french word meaning to sweep or to paint and the technique gives your hair a sun kissed look. It’s a lower maintenance, more natural alternative to ombre and regular highlights. Colorist to stars such as Lily Aldridge and Emma Stone, Tracey Cunningham, says for the most natural look, bring in a picture of yourself as a child as your hair tends to be lighter. My hair has definitely gotten darker ( and grayer) as I’ve gotten older. Ugh I can’t wait to get rid of my old lady hair!!
