I have been wanting to do a plate wall since we moved into our new home, but it seems like a very frightening and daunting task. Mapping and measuring a space out, choosing the right plates and then getting them up on the wall seems like a serious project that I am not sure my brain can handle. Plus, what if I mess up or give up and there are nail holes everywhere. Ugh what a headache. But then I saw this picture of the artist plate wall at New York’s Sant Ambroeus and it made me want to get this project on the wall STAT!
The wall at Sant Ambroeus’ SoHo location is filled with commissioned plates created by artist’s “regulars” such as illustrator, Donald Robertson, potter and designer, Jonathan Adler and even Vogue editor, Anna Wintour. While I don’t think I will be able to commission many famous friends to make me plates, I still want to emulate the fun and organic pattern of the placement. And even if it ends up looking like a disaster, I won’t have any nail holes to fill. I have found adhesive plate hooks. Sooooo….here goes nothing!! I’ll let you know how it goes!
