Fashion Week(s) are always the best time to see what the fashion forward women in the industry are wearing for the season. I always look to street style images for ideas on how to spruce up my wardrobe and since I am now a mama and don’t dress up that often, I was thrilled to see so much denim . I get tired of wearing the same skinny jeans over and over so I’ve definitely been influenced by all the alternatives out on the streets this season.
First up is the jean skirt which I haven’t sported since 2001. At first I was not too thrilled about the styles, but I’ve come around on the A-line button up version (seen above). It would be so cute with a tee and sneakers or a cozy sweater and booties for the cooler weather.
From oversized cuffs, to fringe and raw finishes, the details were in the hemline this season. With the rise of labels like Marques’ Almeida and 3×1, frayed hems have been all the rage. I always love a raw hem, but the super fringe might be overkill for me. Cuffed versions look great dressed up and down. I love seeing them with a slingback pump or even with a cute pair of sneakers.
Last but not least are my favorites, the high waisted jean. High waists aren’t for everyone and if they don’t fit perfectly, you run the risk of this. Unlike mom jeans, the styles shown above on Lauren Santo Domingo and co are much chicer and definitely flatter the body. I’d wear them with a button down shirt and ballet or lace up flat.
