Beauty Review: The Baby Foot Peel

March 16, 2016

Baby Foot

I recently read an article on Vogue.com about a magical Japanese foot peeling treatment called Baby Foot. According to the piece, you put on these little booties for an hour and then the dead skin on your feet peels off and you have baby soft feet. Now I’ve pumiced, scrubbed, shaved and moisturized my little heart away in hopes of removing callused, dry skin from my feet, but none of it has worked! Could Baby Foot be the answer?? Since sandal weather is just around the corner, I decided to go for it. And I’ve lived to tell you the tale.

As soon as I got my Baby Foot in the mail, I wanted to put them on my feet, but needed an uninterrupted hour so I had to impatiently wait until Campbell went to bed. I placed the goop filled, awkwardly fitting plastic bags on my feet and used the included adhesive strips to make sure they didn’t fall off and get goo everywhere. Then I put on a pair of socks over the booties to ensure they were on tight. I awkwardly walked to my bed and sat still for 1 hour. Very hard for anyone to do. There was a slight burn when I put them on but other than that, the booties were painless…until I took them off.

When I took off the booties and washed off the goop, even the coldest water felt scalding. Maybe all the alpha hydroxy acid in the slime made my feet ultra sensitive, but the semi discomfort ended quickly. Then nothing for about a week. I was worried it didn’t work at all, but then came the peeling. Y’all, if you’re going to do this, I suggest you do it now before it gets any warmer because you will HAVE to wear footwear with full coverage. There is skin shedding everywhere and you’ll look like a snake. I wore socks at all times because I didn’t want to leave skin everywhere. Gross I know. Any who, I peeled for about a week.

The Outcome: Despite the minor pain and the major scaliness I dealt with for a week, I definitely see a difference in my feet. However, I have years and years of wear on my poor feet and I really should’ve bought the two packs. If you have super calloused feet, I would recommend you buy two packs too (Instructions say to wait two weeks before doing another), otherwise one should suffice!
